Art Ideas Please Please Please

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 19, 2010, 5:58 PM

Hi everyone,
As most of you know I work in a fashion house as the inhouse fashion illustrator and digital designer but the majority of art that I do there relatively thought free or imagination free as the designs are created and i paint illustrations of them so that clients can see what the outfits will look like before samples are made and production begins.

I still freelance a bit but as my job gets busier because we are booming atm i am finding it harder to balance that with freelance work. Anyhoo what I am saying is i don't get to flex my concept and imagination skills so much with the fashion illustration and i still like to do a lot of personal art but I am a little bit strapped for ideas people.

So I would like to know what do you do when you get creative block AND i will be taking drawing/painting suggestions at the moment.
I will only do the ones that really grab me so don't be disappointed if your idea isn't done, instead keep thinking and try and throw me a really awesome idea please :D

Please don't suggest fan art because I am a little tired of it at the moment and would like to do something a bit more original i guess. Feel free to note me an idea or just write it here :XD:
Hopefully this will help chase away the creative block and inspire the shnizzwhizzler outta me :D

I will love you forever for suggestions.
Ciao for now,
Nichelle

Well: this may help: [link] (it did for me)

and if you are in the mood... you can try to draw with a style that is not your "usual" style. Me for example, can't do no good on Comic style (but i'll try to do it someday)

Or you can visit other Deviants "faves" gallery to see if there are some interesting stuff that you may not find at first sight on the Deviant's gallery

My very personal Suggestions:

1: enter a DA contest with tight deadline and a concept that is of your interest (And ideas will NEED to flow instead of just flow)

2: if you're taking suggestions: i'll suggest you to draw any videogame 3D Render to 2D (That was quite a challenge when i tried to: i kinda failed...but at least, tried) My suggestion: [link] (You can change pose, drawign style, etc)

i hope it helps....

I'm not sure this works for everyone but the best thing that works for me is to get up and walk away from the computer, don't even try to think about it, go outside maybe, watch a movie, listen to music...then take a nap.
...I have really crazy dreams so sometimes they trigger something other times I feel like I was just in the movie Inception. Just don't be afraid to try something you haven't done before you might be surprised with the results. :)

Good luck!

Yeah the best things is to stay away from fan art when you're experiencing creative block. I think maybe one of the best way is to go out and just skecth anything you see, fill up your sketchbook and not worry so much about quality. Then go home and try to come up with a story/concept using the things you drew in the sketchbook and maybe it'll become a sequential :)
